My Goals for 2019

Happy New Year!

So.

I haven’t blogged for over a year and this is me, already fulfilling part of my new year goals (get me!!) and hopping back on the blogging bandwagon. I was considering not doing a post on my 2019 goals and just going straight in with something else, but then I thought, if you don’t put your goals out into the universe, then you’re less likely to succeed. Also it may inspire some of you to start something new or add to your goals for this year; Jan 1st isn’t the only time you can start something!

  1. Publish 10 blog posts– I haven’t written and published a blog post since 2017 so even if this one goes up, it will be a big improvement on all blogging activity last year. I do really like blogging, but I usually set myself an unrealistic blogging schedule, so when I miss a post I just feel guilty about it and then end up not blogging. However,I feel like a goal of 10 posts across the whole year will be pretty manageable!
  2. Learn to play the keyboard– I spend so much of my time just scrolling aimlessly through social media and I really would like to get out of that habit; if I dedicate that time in a week to attempting to learn the keyboard, I could probably have a pretty good go at it! My siblings and I got a keyboard literally about a decade ago and none of us know how to play it which is pretty sad, and I want to try something new so why not give it a go.
  3. Read 25 books– Surely because I’m an English student, I read all the time? Hell no. It really sucks the joy out of reading when you’re reading under a time constraint and so a lot of times I run out of time to finish a book before I have to start the next one. Being able to read in free time during holidays does remind me how much I do like reading and hopefully if I set myself a goal it will motivate me to actually finish books during term time and to read more when I’m home!
  4. Continue to workout & practice more yoga!: I started working out in April of last year and since then, I’ve become a lot fitter and stronger (kind of, still cant do a press up, those things are hard!!) and I love it so much. (Never did I think I would be typing those words!) It makes you focus on looking after yourself and improving yourself; its also really nice for when I’ve been stuck inside working all day and I can leave and take a couple hours for myself. Since working out, I’ve run many 5ks and also learnt to do the crow pose which are only little things, but I’m pretty happy with myself for doing them. So this year I want to continue to achieve more fitness goals like getting my 5k pb down to 27:30 and being able to do the crow pose for longer before I lose my balance!

I have a couple academic/work related goals as well but they’re pretty boring. I really want to go into these goals with the mindset that these goals are habits I’m implementing into my life because I don’t want 2019 to be the year I read loads of books or blogged and then gave it up for 2020 just because I completed a year of it. Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing how this year pans out, I hope 2019 is going well for you all so far!

I’m sure there will be more blog posts in the near future, see you then!
